Greetings, and thank you for visiting my bio. As pretty evident my passion and main focus are dogs. A little bit of my background:  My name is Adrienne and I have been working professionally with dogs since 2006. While I am currently a dog trainer and behavior consultant, my passion for training animals starts in early childhood when I used to enjoy training my cats and horses tricks. Following are some milestones..

• In 2006, I started working for an AAHA animal hospital, and in 2007, I started volunteering for my local shelter helping out and fostering/socializing/training pets in need of temporary homes. In the same year, I became a Televets Advisor.

• In 2008, after adopting my two Rottweilers I started training dogs professionally in my spare time, and in 2010 I  got certified as a dog trainer by the Italian Association for Dog Trainers and Canine Consultants. This testing program required me to  pass a  written test, an oral exam where 4 trainers and a vet were on the board and a series of extensive hands-on tests. Certification was received after undergoing 219 hours of apprehentship under the guidance of a master dog trainer. The whole process started in February and ended in September.

After giving classes in basic and advanced obedience and spending the summer teaching Canine Freestyle, I am back to the States, and obtained certification by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. This allows me to add the acronym CPDT-KA after my name.

• I am a force-free trainer and use scientifically based training methods focusing on the rewarding world of positive reinforcement training. My home is surrounded by dog books written by my favorite authors: Patricia McConnell, Terry Ryan, Pamela Reid, Karen Pryor, Nicole Wild and Jean Donaldson to just name a few. My biggest satisfaction is working with challenging, aggressive cases using positive, reward-based methods.

• CCPDT requires me to continue my education, so I am required to attend seminars and earn CEU's in order to keep up-to-date with the latest dog training and behavior modification trends. At present I am taking a college course on canine theriogenolgy.

• Sinced 2005, I am a professional dog writer for several publications. I overlook the dog training and dog psychology channels for Helium's Dog Training and Dog Psychology Channels and also offer consultations for a popular About.com affiliated website addressing dog training and behavior problems. Also from 2010 , I am a honored to be a National Examiner for Dog Training topics. My work also appears on USA Today, Daily Puppy, Nest Pets, Suite 101, Livestrong and print publications such as Every Dog magazine and the APDT Chronicle of the Dog.

• I am an advocate for the Rottweiler breed and work hard to prevent the spread of BSL. Currently, I am owned by my two beloved Rottweilers, Petra and Kaiser, cats Mocha and Mousse, and 15 chicken, which by the way, are also clicker trained!  I am now working on putting Rally-o and Freestyle titles on my Rotties.  I have to send my biggest thanks to all my pets because without them I would never have gone so far in my writing and training career!

I am currently owner and trainer of Rover's Ranch Home Boarding and Training and a proud member of the Pet Professional Guild.
