As pretty evident my passion and main focus are dogs. My experience having worked for an AAHA approved animal hospital has enriched my knowledge and I enjoy sharing tips and insights concerning mainly dogs and their well being.
The veterinarians liked to call me ''their shadow'' because I was always around them trying to help as much as I could. I was always eager on learning about dog health and cat health, and I had this irresistible habit of peeking in charts to see what the vet's diagnosis was!
I have worked answering pet health related questions for owners of sick pets, and still as of today I offer consultations about pet health topics on a pet website. I am a reputable and well respected advisor for a popular website pertaining dog training and dog behavior problems with hundreds of happy clients. I am also a channel steward for Helium's dog training and dog psychology channels.
My home is full of books about dog health and dog behavior books. My favorite authors are Patricia McConnell, Turid Rugass, Ian Dunbar,Bruce Fogle, and Nicholas Dodman. If you have any questions about dog health or behavioral problems feel free to ask on my hubs!
I have trained my dogs myself and for several people with dogs with behavior issues. I enjoy training using words sparingly and focusing more on body posture and gestures. I truly believe in the possiblity of rehabilitating dogs even when old and with a long time history of behavioral issues.I have successfully rehabilitated dogs suffering from aggression and extreme fear.
I currently own two Rottweilers and two kittens. They get along greatly since they were raised to gether. I am a fan of ''Say Please'', or ''Learn to Earn'' training and started it since my dogs were 8 week old puppies.
I am advocate for the Rottweiiler breed and try my best in educating people about this breed. Responsible ownership is a must in my opinion with these strong yet, loving dogs and I cannot emphasize enough that this is not a breed for everyone.
In 2008, I started training dogs in my spare time and finally in 2010, (after undergoing 219 hours of apprehentship under the guidance of a master dog trainer) I obtained certification as a dog trainer by APICC, the Italian Association for Dog Trainers.
After giving classes in basic and advanced obedience and spending the summer teaching Canine Freestyle, I am back to the States and recently obtained certification by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. This certification program allows me to add the initials CPDT-KA after my name and requires me to continue my education staying up to date on the latest training and behavior trends.
Lately, I am working at this time on rehabilitating shelter dogs, teaching them tricks and putting them up for adoption. I have lots of work ahead but can't wait to reach the finish line!
I hope you find my articles helpful and you are welcome to leave feedback and even better become my fan!
